The following ''Terms of Participation'' apply to those who register a team and download the data.

 

Registration

  • Anonymous registration is NOT allowed. All information entered when registering a team, including the (TRUE) Name of the contact person, the Affiliation (including department, university/institute/company, country) and the E-mail address must be COMPLETE and CORRECT.
  • Incomplete registrations will be removed without notice.
  • Redundant registrations will be removed without notice.
  • Participating teams maintain full ownership to their algorithms and associated intellectual property they develop in course of participating in the challenge.


Submissions

  • For all sub-challenges, participants may use other datasets for the development of a method that will be submitted to the challenge, provided that the datasets are publicly available and clearly stated in the submitted paper.
     
  • It is mandatory to submit a paper to the organizers explaining your algorithm. 
    • The organizers will review the paper for sufficient detail to be able to understand and reproduce the method and hold the right to exclude participants from the post-challenge journal paper in case their method description was not adequate.
    • If a commercial system is evaluated no method description is necessary, but the system has to be publicly available and the exact name and version number have to be provided.
       
  • Evaluation of results uploaded (for any of the sub-challenge) to this website will be made publicly available on the leaderboard of this site, and by submitting results, you grant us permission to publish our evaluation.


Attribution

  • When publishing the obtained results in scientific publications, you should make an appropriate citation in accordance with academic custom. Currently, this citation will refer to this webpage (http://refuge.grand-challenge.org), and later to the journal publication that will describe the results of the challenge and the workshop.


Post-challenge Publication

  • The top-performing participating teams and individuals (based on the performance of the method) will be invited to contribute to a joint journal paper(s) with maximum 2 authors per team describing and summarizing the methods used and results found in this challenge. The paper will be submitted to a high-impact journal in the field.
